our mission

CUBAMERA serves as a sharing of cultures worldwide to illustrate the connectivity of people and the power of music and music education by producing and promoting cultural exchanges between Cuba and America.

From a business standpoint, CUBAMERA strives to provide a foundation for festival programming at multiple events including annual Havana-based festivals. 

CUBAMERA was originally founded to educate the diverse constituencies of multi-cultural societies by promoting cultural exchanges that allow international musicians to perform in both countries by producing a multi-day arts and music festival.

THE PLAN

STEP 1

Get American bands to Cuba!

 

CUBAMERA gets the artists there and back using sponsors dollars and private funding.  This is legal and called a “cultural exchange” in “support of the Cuban people.” We look for:  Creative Brand Integration, Donations, and possible Experiential Activation while in Cuba. We have now completed the theory and proved the concept. We are very excited to work with more bands and do what we did with the Havana World Music Festival in 2019 and help other events. We also want to help Cuban artists and bands collaborate in the USA.



STEP 2

Content Capture in Cuba

The seasoned crew captures the electrifying vibe of the artists to create compelling and entertaining content. Documenting in-studio jams with the live shows and intimate interviews can be packaged and distributed for:  docu-series, feature film, digital OTT, and linear TV broadcast. Revenue generation through the sales of audio and visual recordings to global media outlets is our goal with this unique cultural content. 


STEP 3

The Festival

When the stars align and CUBAMERA can show how this combination can be sustainable, we can continue helping government supported Cuban festivals but would love the opportunity to apply a package of sponsors, media sales/exposure, and artists from both countries to complete the original dream of doing our own 3-day music festival.

THE VISIONARIES

As a producer and host of outdoor lifestyle programming since 1995, Bret has worked on events such as: Aspen Jazz Festival, MTV Sports & Music Festival, Telluride Film Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Bumbershoot, X-Games, and Burning Man. He has worked as a VP for Pabst Brewing, Rockstar Energy Drink and Planet X TV plus consulting duties for Men’s Health Magazine, Gibson Guitars and Spin Magazine. Bret has appeared, hosted & produced TV shows on Fox Sports Net, Outdoor Channel, CBS, USA Network, Discovery Health, MTV, NBC News, and the Warped Tour Radio Show. CUBAMERA is his passion project.

With a rich family history of artistry and hospitality, Alistair was the founder of the North Beach Jazz Festival, a vehicle for celebrating the legendary jazz history of San Francisco and known as the “New Orleans Jazz Fest of the west”, home of Jazz On Coit and Jazz On Grant. He was the founder of the Band Shell Music Summit in Golden Gate Park, a celebration of music, art and culture as a dedication to sustainable living. Alistair has assisted multiple artists including the band Mingus Amungus when they toured Havana, Cuba in 1997 and recorded an album there.
